As summer approaches, Americans have their sights set on sun-kissed beach destinations, according to Allianz Partners‘ Top 10 Summer Travel Destinations survey for 2024.

The study found that international travel will be up 15 percent this summer over last year but domestic trips still make up the majority—68 percent—of summer itinerary bookings.

After analyzing more than six million flight itineraries for trips between five and eight days in length for travel booked between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, Allianz found that ever-evolving Orlando, Florida continues to be the most sought-after domestic destination, topping Seattle, Boston, New York and Honolulu.

Rounding out the top 10 for 2024 are Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Anchorage, Kahului (Maui) and Denver.

When it comes to international travel, Cancun maintains its hold on the top spot. Elsewhere in Mexico, San Jose del Cabo (second) and Puerto Vallarta (seventh) also made the top 10 for 2024. While the Caribbean continues to be popular, with Oranjestad, Aruba (third) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (fifth) both ranking in the top five, Europe is emerging as a hotspot for American travelers.

London is up four spots to number four in 2024 while Paris (ninth) made the top 10 for the first time since 2018. The City of Light is seeing a spike in interest as it gets ready to host the Olympics this summer.

Montego Bay, Jamaica (sixth); Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (eighth) and Nassau, Bahamas (10th) also made the top 10 overseas destinations for summer travelers this year.

“After months of cold and gloomy weather in the states, it’s no surprise that both domestic and international beaches are a big allure to American travelers,” Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA, said in a statement. “Whether you’re staying in the U.S. or traveling abroad, unexpected events can happen that may derail even the best-planned trips. The right travel insurance policy can protect you against the cost of covered travel delays, trip cancellations, baggage loss and even medical emergencies.”
