Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Cancun – Playa de Carmen section of the Maya Train will offer morning transportation to area workers. Tren Maya company head Óscar David Lozano Águila made the announcement Monday.
He reported in compliance with instructions by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, section 5 north (Cancun to Playa del Carmen) will have a morning schedule to transport workers from the Riviera Maya.
He said that the departure from the Cancun Airport station will be at 6:00 a.m. and from the Playa del Carmen station at 7:30 a.m.
As part of the third phase of inauguration (section 5 north) February 29, the Director pointed out that the tourist service will have six daily departures.
The departures will be 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen and 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Playa del Carmen to the Cancun Airport passing through the Puerto Morelos station in both directions.
On this route, national and international visitors will be able to enjoy landscapes such as the San Miguelito and El Rey archaeological zones, the Nichupté mangroves and the Puerto Morelos reef.
On February 29, the Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen Maya Train stations will be added to the 22 that are currently active on the railway circuit.
He added that in the first 55 days of operations, the Maya Train has transported 50,976 passengers. Before media, he said that an average of 927 passengers are transported daily, which means an occupancy of 84 percent for each of the five operational trains with capacity for 221 people.
The current departures are at 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. from the Cancun Aeropuerto – Palenque and Palenque – Cancun Aeropuerto stations.
“We have met the schedules. It is important that travelers know that the train is moving according to the scheduled times, arriving at the stated time and leaving precisely to guarantee quality service,” Lozano Águila said.
The routes with the greatest demand are Mérida Teya – Cancún Airport, San Francisco Campeche – Mérida Teya, Cancun Airport – Mérida Teya, Mérida Teya – San Francisco Campeche and Cancún Airport – Valladolid.
