United will resume flying to Israel in early March, making it the first U.S. airline to return to Israel since the war between Israel and Hamas began on Oct. 7.
“United conducted a detailed safety analysis in making this decision, including close work with security experts and government officials in the United States and Israel,” the airline said. “We also worked closely with the Air Line Pilots Association and the Association of Flight Attendants to develop the protocols to ensure they are safe and well-informed.”
United will fly one-stop service from Newark to Tel Aviv via Munich on March 2 and March 4, and said it hopes to resume daily nonstop flights between Newark and Tel Aviv on March 6. A second daily Tel Aviv flight from Newark could be added in May.
Prior to Oct. 7, United also served Tel Aviv from Washington Dulles, Chicago and San Francisco. Those routes will be evaluated for resumption in the fall, United said.
